Settled shortly after the Civil War, Chuluota comes from the Creek Indian word Chuluoto and means "Isle of Pines" or "Land of Lakes and Pines". It's known for the wildlife, orange groves, and open space. It's a rural community with plenty of beauty throughout including many lakes with Lake Mills being the largest of the lakes.
Found in Seminole County, Chuluota is bordered by Christmas, Oviedo, Bithlo, and Geneva. It's found to the northeast of Orlando, about 23 miles from downtown Orlando.
Chuluota is filled with properties found on larger tracts of land. Homes start just over $200K and can go up to more than $3 million. There's plenty of land for sale in Chuluota and it's not uncommon to find properties with acreage here.
There are a few subdivisions here including Lake Mills Shores, Chula Vista, Trails and Pickett Downs. All offer more of a neighborhood feel but still, tend to have larger lots. Plenty of land is available for development, as well, making Chuluota prime for new construction. In fact, about 1,000 homes have been built throughout the area since 2003 and more are in the plans.
Most of the things to do throughout Chuluota revolve around the lakes and outdoors. It's home to Lake Mills Park, along with the largest of the lakes, which is Lake Mills. While Chuluota itself doesn't offer a large number of activities, places to dine or places to shop, it's very close to Oviedo, Avalon Park, and Geneva. All three of these communities offer plenty of amenities, including good dining options and plenty of shopping for residents to enjoy.
In addition, Orlando is just 23 miles from Chuluota giving residents full access to the bigger city amenities. Residents can even get to Walt Disney World in about an hour, along with Universal Studios and Sea World. In fact, many of the top Orlando attractions are less than an hour from Chuluota.
There's no shortage of things to do and places to go just outside the community. This is also a growing community and many new businesses may also move into Chuluota over time.
A rural community offering plenty of land with a few subdivisions to choose from, Chuluota makes a good choice for those looking to move to the Central Florida area. Neighborhood Scout's analysis found Chuluota to be one of the best neighborhoods for families in Florida. They even stated it's more family-friendly than 99.7% of the neighborhoods in the state.
Living in Chuluota offers plenty of open space, easy access to neighboring communities and a location found within just a short drive of Orlando. It may be the perfect community with the perfect home for you.
