Altamonte Springs is an excellent part of Florida for anyone to call home. It’s located over in Seminole County as a suburban city in the northern suburbs of Orlando. The area has over 2 million people while Altamonte Springs is home for just under 42,000 as of the last census in 2010. The area was actually named after a Spanish word for “high hill” and was first settled back in the 1870’s.
Today it’s known for its hidden gems in the restaurant industry, for having one of the most popular shopping centers in Orlando, and for having a beautiful lake/park setting. In addition to these points, the center of the city has high rise condominiums and large-scale apartment buildings. While residents are regularly enjoying the park area for festivals, holidays, and weddings in the square, the area also finds visitors from nearby areas such as Casselberry, Maitland, and Longwood. Many people visit the Altamonte Mall because of the 18-screen AMC Theater inside, restaurants nearby, and the indoor shopping experience.
Living in Altamonte Springs is wonderful for the location, the amenities, and the city involvement. There are regularly local special events like the Red, Hot, & Boom annual firework festival on July 3rd each year.
There are tons of parks and events to enjoy, like Cranes Roost, Lake Orienta Public Boat Ramp, Earth Day Event, and Hermits Trail & Turbull Avenue recreation can be enjoyed at Merrill Park, Eastmonte, Westmonte, and the Lake Brantley Sports Complex.
In addition, students can attend school in the Seminole County Public Schools system with schools such as Altamonte Elementary, Teague Middle, Altamonte Christian School, and Lake Brantley High School.
You can easily fly out of the Orlando International Airport, just 30 minutes away from the city or the Orlando Sanford International Airport just 25 minutes north. Your out-of-town visitors can stay at lodging options including the Embassy Suites Orlando North and the Howard Johnson Plaza Altamonte.
Go shopping at the Altamonte Mall, the best shopping center in the city, where you’ll find even more shopping at the outdoor city walk venue called Uptown Altamonte. Grab a bite to eat at Hana Sushi, your favorite chains, or Kohinoor, some of the most popular local options. Then spend your weekend at Cranes Roost Park, the cultural center of the city, where events are usually going on like free concerts or family-friendly festivals, and try a round of top-shelf mini golf at the Congo River nearby.
