Avalon Park was started base on the principle of Neo-Traditionalism or New Urbanism, terms meant to mean the neighborhood was built with environmentally-friendly practices in mind. This means that this type of neighborhood is going to be walk-able, offer a wide range of housing types, and a wide range of job types. It’s a trending style of neighborhood that first was started in the 80’s for real estate developments, but today, people are drawn to it for reduce traffic congestion, the affordable housing, and the adequate provisions for community centers, sports facilities, and libraries.
Avalon Park features a town center which the 7 villages that make up the community surround. These neighborhoods include: Live Oak Village, Northwest Village, Parkside Landing, River Haven, South Village, Town Center and the Villages at Timbercreek.
You will find both townhomes and single family homes as well as apartments within the Avalon Park community. Parks and schools as well and shops and restaurants are just a short stroll away.
This neighborhood is found in southeaster Orange County south of State Road 50 and just east of Alafaya Trail. Avalon Park is in the Greater Waterford Lakes Community. You’ll see several villages surrounding a Town Center with a mixture of traditional homes, condominiums, apartments, and town homes, along with space for storefronts and restaurants.
Life in Avalon Park is great for having that sense of community and being able to enjoy the outdoors. Kids can attend either of the two elementary schools located here including Avalon Elementary and Stone Lakes. There is Avalon Middle School and the neighborhood is zoned for Timber Creek High School or Avalon Tech Center for vocational training. In addition, students can attend college at the University of Central Florida, less than 10 miles away.
Spend your weekends taking the kids to Disney just 31 miles away or Universal Orlando just 26 miles away. You’ll love the area of Downtown Avalon Park where everything is pedestrian-centered and there is so much to enjoy, from hitting the bike trails to enjoying the parks, taking a swim or getting your workout on at the community center’s gym. Live Oak Park offers recreation and relaxation for the whole family, from the playgrounds to the dog parks, the sport fields and courts, and even a splash park.
