The fourth largest lake in Florida, Lake Apopka is located in West Orange County and East Lake County. In the 1940's, it was a huge tourist attraction. In the 1980's it was discovered that pesticide company had been improperly disposing of chemicals into the lake. A restoration project was begun that continues to this day to bring back plant and animal life to the lake.
