Found on the border of both Lake and Orange County, the community of Johns Lake is very popular. It's an undeveloped area, which is great for those looking for a true lake getaway. It does get referred to as the John's Chain quite a bit and the shoreline can vary, depending on who you talk to.
About Johns Lake
Johns Lake is very famous for the fishing, especially the bass fishing. There are several other species found in the lake, as well, but the bass fishing is incredible here. Other types of fish found here include bluegill, shellcracker and speckled perch. Part of the reason the bass fishing is so good was the restocking of a half-million bass fingerlings in 2003.
Johns Lake covers about 2,424 acres and it's divided into an easy and west pool, which are connected by a channel. This is why some refer to it as the Johns Chain. Both the eastern and southern shorelines are undeveloped areas offering a very peaceful setting.
There is a boat ramp located at 13620 Lake Boulevard in Winter Garden, which provides public access to Johns Lake.

There are several communities found throughout the Johns Lake area. Many are newer communities, such as Johns Lake Landing Manor, which offers homes starting around $364K. This community provides many amenities, such as a golf course nearby and shopping not far away. It also offers lakefront options throughout the community.
This area is home to many affordable lake properties, along with some more luxurious options found on the water. Properties can actually start as low as $250K, but can go up to more than $1 million.
Things to Do near Johns Lake
Johns Lake communities are known for the fishing and the water activities. However, they are also close to many of the great Central Florida attractions. Top Orlando attractions are just a short drive away, while many other lakes are also very close by. Many of the communities are located close to shopping and dining options, as well.
In addition to the easy access to Orlando, communities near Johns Lake are found just a few hours from Tampa and from the Kennedy Space Center. It's a location allowing day trips to both coasts of Florida, along with great access to everything Central Florida has to offer.
Schools near Johns Lake
Johns Lake communities are served by the Lake County Schools in most areas. The schools most likely to serve students in this area include Grassy Lake Elementary, Windy Hill Middle and East Ridge High Schools. All three are considered good choices for students to get an education.

Living on or near Johns Lake gives residents access to some of the best fishing in all of Central Florida. It's also a prime location for the many area attractions and even a trip to Tampa is pretty easy.
