Three heavy-hitter stores sit within a few miles of MetroWest — here's what to know before you load up the car
MetroWest residents have three major big-box stores within roughly 2 to 4 miles north on West Colonial Drive (SR 50). Sam's Club is at 7810 W. Colonial Drive, The Home Depot is at 7022 W. Colonial Drive between SR 50 and the 408 Expressway at Hiawassee Road, and H Mart — Florida's first location — opened September 25, 2025, at 7501 W. Colonial Drive in the Westland Terrace Plaza. The H Mart store is more than 100,000 square feet and includes a Korean and Asian food hall with vendors including Paris Baguette, Kung Fu Tea, Myung Ga, and Oh K-Dog. The plaza had been mostly vacant since a Super Target closed there in January 2012.
Living in MetroWest comes with a lot of quiet perks — the golf course, the lakes, the gated condo communities, the quick hop onto the 408. Here's one that doesn't get enough credit: the big-box shopping cluster sitting right on West Colonial Drive (SR 50), a couple of miles north of the neighborhood.
Within about a 1-mile stretch of SR 50, you've got a Sam's Club, a Home Depot, and — as of late 2025 — Florida's first H Mart. That's bulk groceries, weekend project supplies, and one of the most hyped Asian supermarkets in the country, all reachable in a 10-minute drive from most of MetroWest.
Sam's Club — 7810 W. Colonial Drive
The Sam's Club at 7810 W. Colonial sits a little under 3 miles north of MetroWest and is the closest warehouse club by a comfortable margin — the next nearest Sam's Club is about 7 to 8 miles away in Apopka. Standard Sam's lineup applies: bulk groceries, the produce and meat sections that punch above their price point, tires, optical, pharmacy, and a member fuel station that's typically a few cents under the surrounding gas stations. Scan & Go, EBT, same-day delivery, and curbside pickup are all available.
One quirk: Sam's Club's own website lists this as the "Orlando, Ocoee" club because the store sits very close to the Orlando–Ocoee line. Practical impact for you: none.
The Home Depot — 7022 W. Colonial Drive
The Home Depot at 7022 W. Colonial is the closest big-box home improvement store to MetroWest — about 3 to 4 miles, usually a 10 to 12 minute drive. The Home Depot's own page describes the location as between FL-50 and FL-408 at North Hiawassee Road, by the Office Depot, which is a useful landmark.
It's a full-format Home Depot — lumber yard, garden center, paint desk, tool rental, key cutting, propane exchange. Store hours are 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, which is a real asset when you discover at 7:00 a.m. that the project you started yesterday needs one more box of drywall screws.
The rental center is the underrated piece. For one-off projects — pressure washing, hauling a sofa, demoing a wall — renting a tool or a Penske truck here beats buying. The next-nearest Home Depots are at Millenia (about 5 miles south) and on East Colonial (about 8.5 miles east).
H Mart — 7501 W. Colonial Drive (Florida's First)
Now for the big one. H Mart opened its first Florida location at 7501 W. Colonial Drive on September 25, 2025, after more than four years of "coming soon" signs. The store occupies the former Super Target building in the Westland Terrace Plaza, which had sat largely vacant since the Target closed in January 2012.
For context: H Mart is the largest Asian grocery chain in the United States — Korean-founded, but with deep Japanese, Chinese, and Southeast Asian sections, plus fresh seafood, a butcher counter, a bakery, K-beauty products, kitchenware, and a sit-down food hall. The Orlando location runs over 100,000 square feet, which puts it among the larger H Marts in the country (their Las Vegas store, for comparison, is 55,000 square feet).
The food hall is what most people are driving over for first. Confirmed vendors include Myung Ga (Korean BBQ and tofu soup), Oh K-Dog (the Korean-style corn dogs), Jaws Tapokki (street food), U Chun (cold noodles), Paik's Noodle (Korean-Chinese), Chidon (tonkatsu), plus Paris Baguette, Kung Fu Tea, and a Coffee & Co. The food court closes at 8:30 p.m. — earlier than the grocery side, which is open until 10:00 p.m. daily. Weekends are packed; weekday mid-afternoon is the move.
How the Three Stores Sit on West Colonial
From east to west: Home Depot at 7022, H Mart at 7501, Sam's Club at 7810. That's a roughly 1-mile stretch with H Mart in the middle. The practical access from MetroWest is usually north on Hiawassee Road or Kirkman Road, then west on Colonial.

- The closest Costco is a longer haul south near the Mall at Millenia
How It Compares to Other MetroWest-Adjacent Shopping
This cluster isn't the only retail near MetroWest. For traditional mall shopping, West Oaks Mall sits a few more miles west on Colonial in Ocoee. For high-end, The Mall at Millenia is about 6 miles south. For the outdoor lifestyle center experience, Winter Garden Village is roughly 8 miles west via SR 50 or SR 429. What the West Colonial big-box cluster does is the unglamorous stuff really well — wholesale, hardware, weekly groceries — which is honestly what you want close to home.

MetroWest residents have figured out the rhythm: hit Sam's Club first thing on a weekday morning before the crowds, swing by H Mart after for fresh produce and a quick food-hall stop, and save Home Depot for whatever the weekend project demands. The corridor isn't pretty, but it's functional in a way that matters when you live nearby.
