Gyms and Fitness Clubs In and Around MetroWest Orlando

From budget-friendly chains to boutique studios — here's the lay of the land for MetroWest residents serious about staying in shape

Gyms and Fitness Classes

MetroWest Orlando residents have access to several gyms within or directly adjacent to the community, anchored by Planet Fitness at 5920 Metropolis Way and Burn Boot Camp at 2425A S. Hiawassee Road inside the 32835 zip code. Just east along Kirkman Road, Crunch Fitness Kirkman at 1101 Resource Avenue (formerly 24 Hour Fitness, rebranded in 2025 after CR Fitness Holdings acquired the location) and LA Fitness Orlando Metro West at 4792 S. Kirkman Road serve as the area's largest full-service clubs. The Dr. P. Phillips YMCA Family Center at 7000 Dr. Phillips Blvd, approximately 4 miles south, is the largest YMCA in Central Florida. Membership pricing ranges from roughly $10 per month at Planet Fitness to $35 per month at the YMCA, with boutique studios running $150 to $250 monthly.

So you're looking at a move to MetroWest — or you already live here and you're tired of paying for a gym you never use because it's a 25-minute drive away. Either way, one of MetroWest's quiet advantages is that you don't have to go far to break a sweat.

Here's the thing about gym shopping in this part of town: the inventory shifts. The 24 Hour Fitness on Kirkman everyone used for years? A Crunch Fitness as of 2025. So instead of a list that'll be stale by next quarter, here's what's actually open right now and which gym fits which kind of MetroWest resident.

Inside MetroWest Proper (32835)

Planet Fitness MetroWest

5920 Metropolis Way, Orlando, FL 32811 (just over the MetroWest line but identified as "Planet Fitness MetroWest" by the chain, and inside the MetroWest commercial cluster off Kirkman).

This is the budget anchor of the area. Basic memberships start around $10 a month, the PF Black Card runs $29.99 monthly, and hours run 24/7 Tuesday through Thursday with reduced weekend hours. Standard PF amenities: cardio, strength machines, free weights up to a moderate cap, massage chairs and hydromassage in the Black Card area, and a sauna at this location. Not where serious lifters end up, but hard to beat for price-to-proximity.

Burn Boot Camp MetroWest

2425A S. Hiawassee Road, Unit 90, Orlando, FL 32835

The boutique option actually inside MetroWest. Burn runs 45-minute high-intensity group classes built around strength-and-conditioning circuits, with complimentary childcare during camp times — which makes it a default for parents in the surrounding neighborhoods. Not cheap (group HIIT typically runs $150-plus monthly), but the community format and one-on-one focus meetings with trainers are the draw for people who hate working out alone.

Just Across Kirkman Road

Crunch Fitness Kirkman

1101 Resource Avenue, Orlando, FL 32835

Here's where the recent history matters. This 38,000-square-foot gym operated as 24 Hour Fitness for years and was a MetroWest staple. In April 2025, CR Fitness Holdings — the largest Crunch franchisee in the country — acquired the location along with eight other 24 Hour Fitness gyms in Florida, and by May 2025 it was rebranded as Crunch Fitness Kirkman.

The conversion to Crunch's "3.0" design brings expanded Olympic weightlifting racks, a hot yoga studio, sauna, HydroMassage, tanning, and updated locker rooms. Hours generally run 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM weekdays with shorter weekend hours. Memberships start as low as $9.99 per month for the basic tier.

LA Fitness Orlando Metro West

4792 S. Kirkman Road, Orlando, FL 32811

The other big-box option, and probably the deepest amenity stack in the immediate area. LA Fitness "Orlando Metro West" delivers the full chain experience: indoor pool with water aerobics, group fitness studio (yoga, cycle, dance, HIIT), basketball court, sauna, and a separate Pilates Reformer studio (paid add-on). The water aerobics following here is real — if pool fitness is part of your routine, this is closer than the YMCA.

A Few Miles South in Dr. Phillips

Dr. P. Phillips YMCA Family Center

7000 Dr. Phillips Blvd, Orlando, FL 32819

Roughly 4 miles south of MetroWest, the Dr. P. Phillips YMCA is the largest YMCA in Central Florida and the closest one to MetroWest. Different animal than the for-profit chains — bigger outdoor pool, family programming, swim lessons, youth sports, senior fitness, and a Brain Fitness Academy program for older adults with cognitive issues. Adult memberships start at $35 per month and there's a Foxtail Coffee on-site that's become a draw of its own.

If you're a family in Dr. Phillips or southern MetroWest and you want your kids in swim lessons or summer camp at the same place you work out, the math here gets compelling fast. See our roundup of Dr. Phillips Family Activities and Things to Do for how the Y fits into the community.

Crunch Fitness Dr. Phillips (New)

7506 Dr. Phillips Blvd, Orlando, FL 32819

Brand-new — this 37,000-square-foot Crunch opened December 31, 2025, in the former World of Decor building. Ground-up "3.0" design, which makes it the newer, more premium-feeling sibling of the Kirkman conversion. Worth checking out if Dr. Phillips Boulevard is on your daily route.

Boutique and Specialty Options Nearby

Beyond the big-box and chain gyms, the area has a steady supply of specialty studios. A few worth knowing about:

  • F45 Training Dr. Phillips — 45-minute team-training circuits with a cult HIIT following.
  • Iron Religion Gym — 5247 International Drive, about 10 minutes from MetroWest. Open 24/7, hardcore bodybuilding-and-powerlifting orientation, no contracts. Not for the timid.
  • Orangetheory Fitness — multiple area locations including Dr. Phillips. Heart-rate-zone training in 60-minute classes.
  • Yoga, Pilates, barre, and CrossFit studios are scattered through Dr. Phillips and Sand Lake Road. We track the broader scene in our Dr. Phillips Sports and Fitness Guide.

Beyond the Gym: Outdoor Fitness in MetroWest

MetroWest's gym density looks better when you factor in outdoor options. Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake (just south) has trails and an outdoor par course. The MetroWest Golf Club's surrounding streets are heavily walked and run by residents. And 15 minutes northwest, the West Orange Trail opens 22 miles of paved biking, walking, and running through Winter Garden and Gotha.

Not a substitute for a real gym if you're serious about strength training, but plenty of residents stack cheap Planet Fitness for cardio days with outdoor running and biking. Gets the job done for under $30 a month.

Matching the Gym to the Person

Quick guide: Budget-first — Planet Fitness MetroWest or Crunch Kirkman's base tier, both around $10/month. Full amenities — LA Fitness Orlando Metro West (pool, basketball, classes); Dr. P. Phillips YMCA is the family alternative. Boutique group training — Burn Boot Camp MetroWest (childcare included), F45 Dr. Phillips, or Orangetheory at $150-$250 monthly. Serious lifting — Iron Religion on I-Drive is the hardcore pick; Crunch Kirkman's renovated lifting area is the mainstream alternative.

What the Locals Know

The honest read: MetroWest doesn't have a destination fitness scene like Winter Park or Lake Nona. What it has is convenience density — a Planet Fitness, Burn Boot Camp, Crunch, LA Fitness, and YMCA all within roughly a 10-minute drive of any MetroWest home. For most people, that's the actual deciding factor: the gym you'll use is the one you can reach in five minutes after work.

Two practical tips. First, every chain on this list offers a free day pass or week trial — use them. A Planet Fitness at 6:30 AM is not the same gym as 5:30 PM. Second, if you're weighing neighborhoods, the gym you'll actually use is a real variable — 4 minutes versus 14 is the difference between three workouts a week and one. Browse our MetroWest Sports and Recreation Guide for the broader picture.
