Prairie Lake is a contemporary single-family home community located in the northern section of Ocoee, accessed primarily via Majestic Elm Boulevard off Clarke Road. The neighborhood was developed by Morrison Homes (now part of Taylor Morrison) over an extended build-out from 1996 through approximately 2007, which gives the community a more varied architectural character than newer master-planned subdivisions where every home was built within a tight three-to-five year window.

With roughly 366 homes, Prairie Lake is one of the largest residential communities in Ocoee — large enough that there is almost always inventory turning over, but established enough that the streetscape is mature with full tree canopy and finished landscaping. Homes range from approximately 1,550 to over 4,000 square feet, with most floor plans falling in the 1,800-3,000 square foot range with three to five bedrooms and two- or three-car garages. Some homes back to conservation areas and some include private screened pools.

Prairie Lake itself sits on the western edge of the community and gives the neighborhood both its name and its school zoning. The community is non-gated with sidewalks throughout, a basketball court, playground, community pool, and recreation area maintained by a mandatory HOA. The neighborhood is bordered by Orchard Park to the north, Westchester to the south, Sawmill to the east, and Arden Park to the west.

Prairie Lake is located in the northern section of Ocoee, with primary access via Majestic Elm Boulevard off Clarke Road just south of Clarcona-Ocoee Road. The community's position in the northern Ocoee corridor places it near Prairie Lake Park, Prairie Lake Elementary, and the West Orange Trail, while still keeping the major commercial corridor of West Colonial Drive (SR 50) within a short drive south.

Commuters benefit from being equidistant from three major expressways: SR 429 (the Western Beltway) is a few minutes west via Clarcona-Ocoee Road, SR 408 (the Arnold Palmer Expressway) is reached via Clarke Road or West Colonial Drive heading south, and Florida's Turnpike is accessible via either of those connectors. This three-expressway access is a defining feature of the northern Ocoee location.
