Abingdon Hill sits at the western frontier of MetroWest, the 1,805-acre master-planned community in southwest Orlando. The subdivision forms part of "MetroWest Unit 5," developed alongside its immediate neighbors Bardmoor and St Andrews. It is a non-gated community with a single, clearly marked entrance on the far western end of Westpointe Boulevard.
The neighborhood contains 114 traditional Florida single-family homes built beginning in 1994. Floor plans generally range from about 1,304 to 2,903 square feet of living area on yards averaging roughly a fifth of an acre, with charming touches like balconies, covered patios, and attached garages. Mature shade trees and tidy landscaping give the streets a settled, established feel rather than the look of newer production construction.
Abingdon Hill's edges are defined by water and roadway: 12 homes overlook a pond along the western boundary, while a band of homes backs to Florida's Turnpike on the southwest and to Steer Lake Road on the north. The community was laid out as part of the original MetroWest plan oriented around the public MetroWest Golf Club, a short drive east via Westpointe Boulevard and Hiawassee Road.
