The Villages Florida

The Villages is one of the largest 55+ communities in the country and is considered to be part of the Greater Orlando Metro area despite being about an hour away from Downtown Orlando. The Villages is in reality a city unto itself and has been growing at a tremendous rate since it was first launched and shows no signs of slowing down. The majority of The Villages is in Sumter County, however, the community is so large, it has grown into both Marion County and Lake County.

Living in The Villages

Choosing to call The Villages home means you'll be living in what has been called, "Florida's Friendliest Retirement Hometown". It's truly a unique place with incredible homes, amazing healthcare, amenities all throughout, restaurants, shopping options, and so much more. You can easily escape life and feel like your neighborhood is a small, friendly town when you choose to live in The Villages.

Where is The Villages, FL?

Located just north of Orlando between Orlando and Ocala, Florida, The Village is found right off Highway 301. It's just a short distance from I-75 and offers a great location near some of the top lakes in Central Florida.

The location is found just 63 miles from Walt Disney World and just 58 miles from Downtown Orlando. Tampa is a bit further, but still close enough to enjoy at just 81 miles from The Villages. In addition, Ocala and man of the top suburbs of Orlando are found within a very short drive of The Villages.

Homes for Sale in The Villages

Six main types of home are found throughout the Villages including patio villas, courtyard villas, designer homes, premier homes, cottage/ranch homes, and manufactured homes. The majority of the homes throughout the community include two bathrooms including a shower in the Master Bath and a tub in the guest bathroom. Some of the larger homes have garden tubs.

Homes range from two to four bedrooms and most will include a garage. Some may have a two car or three car garage and other homes may even have a garage for a golf cart.

While many of the smaller communities found in The Villages are already established, newer communities open up regularly. Some of the newer communities include:

Things to Do in The Villages, Florida

Golf is one of the most popular activities found throughout The Villages. There are a total of 38 executive golf course and 12 Championship courses to choose from. The Villages is also home to four practice facility and you can get a lifetime country club membership for the championship courses when you become a resident.

Along with golf, residents enjoy plenty of other activities including softball, tennis, pickleball, volleyball, and more. The Villages is even home to a Polo stadium with two fields and Polo leagues. In addition, there are two Bowling Alleys and so much more to do throughout the area.

A set of communities filled with amenities, amazing homes to choose from, and all kinds of clubs, The Villages is the place to be if you plan to retire to Florida. It's an active adult community and one of the best you will find.
